The Bereavement ministry is for someone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. It is a six-week series of meetings that last 1 1/2 hours, during which participants meet and discuss readings from various authors, as well as scripture passages that address grief and loss. Each week a different topic is discussed. The groups meet twice a year, or as needed.
This ministry provides an opportunity to meet with others to share stories, memories, and to learn how to cope with the loss of a loved one. The topics discussed include: coping with loss and change, hope and reaching out, identifying strengths and resources and redefining expectations for life after the death of a loved one.
Bethany Ministry members collaborate with the Little Flower Funeral Coordinator, and are notified when a funeral is scheduled. Prior to a funeral, volunteers meet with the family of the deceased and assist in determining their needs. If our services are required, one group of volunteers set up and organize the Parish Hall on the date of the funeral. Another group prepares and brings dishes of food for the deceased family and friends. Volunteers are always welcome to join and contribute to this ministry.
Parishioners of Little Flower are committed to keeping our church attractive, clean and well organized. Following the work sessions we conclude in prayer. For more information please contact the parish office at (775) 322-2255.
The mission of the Disciples of Jesus and Mary program is to help participants recognize how they are called to live in holiness and how to recognize the unique gifts and graces they have been given. The participants learn to apply five core principles to their daily life, learn how prayer helps develops their spirituality and how to discern the will of God according to their vocation or unique plan of life.
In the Discipleship program, members follow the path of Jesus and Mary. We live the Gospel and help others by example. We serve the poor and minister to those in need according to the capacity given to us by God. Through prayer and discernment, paraticipants learn how to be disciples of Jesus and Mary under obedience to the Church.
The Disciples of Jesus and Mary program entails participating in two – six week sessions. Participants need to register in advance of the classes.
The mission of an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister is to assist the priest at Mass in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to the faithful in Holy Communion. Many Eucharistic Ministers take Communion to the elderly who are homebound and those who are absent due to illness. These ministers serve as a bridge between the parish and the community of faithful.
Eucharistic Ministers must be a Confirmed, practicing Catholic. The person appointed for this task must be instructed, and should strive to live a life consistent with the sacrament they are distributing. They must be responsible and arrive early to the Masses in which they are scheduled and be witnesses to the faith in their daily lives. This ministry requires prior approval by the pastor.

Members of the Little Flower Pro-Life Ministry commit to defend the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. This is accomplished through prayer, education, political action and charitable assistance to those in need. This culturally diverse ministry is involved in ethical issues including abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, and the provision of adoption resources and counseling for women who have contemplated an abortion or have had an abortion. Locally, members gather and pray the rosary in front of the Abortion Clinic on Neil Road the first Saturday of each month. Two times per year ministry leaders attend a meeting at the diocese to discuss pro-life issues and events.
The group meets weekly and reads each of the three coming Sunday’s readings, and with two main commentaries to guide us; we try to learn as much as we can about each one, bring it forward to our present time and apply it to our own lives.
Class is about an hour; no snacks, no minutes to read and not fundraisers, etc. Each person gets a copy of one commentary to study for the following week. We do not have a great deal of discussion; our main goal is to “flesh out” the reading for Mass on the weekend to have the Readings come alive and be more complete. We do not bother with “I think” or “I feel”. We just want to learn as much as we can about our Faith.
Meetings take place Tuesdays at 6:30pm in the Parish Center year-round.
